FACETS

FACETS (Fairfax Area Christian Emergency & Transitional Services) provide hot meals to homeless families who are temporarily housed in motels.  Join our team of parishioners who prepare and deliver a complete dinner to FACETS families on the first Wednesday of each month.

Front Porch Singers/Elder Outreach

This spirited group of folk-style music singers and musicians take familiar, good-time music, sing-alongs, and fellowship to retirement communities and similar venues.  They’re also available for church functions.  Adults and kids of all musical levels are welcome.

Homeless Walk

Once a year the Youth Group leads other St. Anne’s walkers, joining other faith organizations and community members, in a walk to raise funds for the Embry Rucker Shelter.

Contact homelesswalk@stannes-reston.org  for more information.

Meals on Wheels

Deliver a meal prepared at Cameron Glen Nursing home to a neighbor in need through Fairfax Count’s Meals on Wheels program.  There are three different ways you can help:  (1) as a part of the St. Anne’s team that delivers meals in August (2) as a regular driver each month or (3) as a last-minute substitute driver.

Nurturing Parent Program

Families are important to St. Anne’s and we are saddened to see families in distress. This program offers classes to help families build stronger relationships among all members. A dinner is provided during each of these classes, demonstrating how much joy and conversation can take place around meal times with family.  We invite St. Anne’s volunteers to help by providing and serving an evening meal to class members and, afterward, providing childcare during the class session.

Contact the church office for more information.

Reston Interfaith Food Pantry

We help to keep the Food Pantry’s shelves well stocked year-round by bringing donations of canned and packaged foods to the church on the first Sunday of every month.  Reston Interfaith distributes the foods collected to Reston and Herndon families in need of emergency food assistance.

Contact the church office for more information.

Thanksgiving Basket Drive

We collect up to 60 Thanksgiving baskets to be distributed to families served by Reston Interfaith.

The Closet

Eighteen faith communities, including St. Anne’s, support the Closet, a thrift shop in Herndon.  Sale items include clothing, books, small furniture and appliances, toys, sporting goods and housewares.  Profits are donated to charitable groups and college scholarships.  Churches provide volunteers 2 or 3 times a month for brief shifts.  Donations are accepted on Thursday and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
